Alliance for Affordable Internet (A4AI) has been launched in a bid to reduce the price of broadband services in developing countries. The United Nations Broadband Commission targets price of below 5% of monthly income worldwide and this is one of the ways of achieving that.

The Higgs Boson which was discovered by the most powerful particle accelerator in the world, the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, in Switzerland last year has won the Nobel Prize in Physics for the theorists who initially proposed its existence about 50 years ago.

Obama supports Samsung products sales ban



The Obama administration has upheld United States International Trade Council’s (USITC) ban on some Samsung products which allegedly infringed on two Apple patents. Obama’s administration had earlier vetoed a similar ruling that banned Apple’s product sales for infringing Samsung patents.

NCC plans to provide license for fixed broadband services



At a news conference, the Executive Vice President of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr. Eugene Juwah, and the secretary general of the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organization (CTO), Prof Tim Unwin revealed the plans of NCC to license broadband services for regions and the accompanying advantage.


South Korean company LG Electronics Co has become the first company to introduce a flexible OLED (organic light-emitting diode) screen for a smartphone and intends to use the technology to produce a smartphone next year.

Microsoft investors want Bill Gates to step down



According to Reuters, three of the top 20 shareholders in the giant software company wants co-founder Bill Gates – who co-founded the company with Paul Allen about 38 years ago – to resign as the Chairman of the board.


After carrying out extended tests on the newly released Samsung Galaxy Note 3 phablet, tech blog Ars Technica has concluded that Samsung programmed the device to feign a better performance than other devices of similar specifications.
