The Chief
Security Officer of Adobe, Brad Arkin, has revealed that information about 2.9
million costumers of the company was breached by cyber attackers.
Attackers
were able to access users’ usernames and passwords. They were also able to
access their credit and debit card details.
“Our
investigation currently indicates that the attackers accessed Adobe customer
IDs and encrypted passwords on our systems.” he said in a blog post.
“We also
believe the attackers removed from our systems certain information relating to
2.9 million Adobe customers, including customer names, encrypted credit or
debit card numbers, expiration dates and other information relating to customer
orders.” he continued.
Adobe has advised
users to change their passwords in other websites or accounts where they have
used the same password they used on Adobe. Adobe has promised to send affected
users an email.
Adobe has
notified banks about this development. Adobe has also noted that it is
investigating the illegal access to source code of Adobe products like Adobe
Acrobat, ColdFusion, ColdFusion Builder and others.
It has
claimed that the access to these products does not pose any danger to users.
Adobe is the maker of popular software like the image editor Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash player
and the Adobe PDF Reader.
