Blackberry fires boss, no more going private



Ailing Canadian smartphone maker, Blackberry, has revealed that its current boss, Thorsten Heins, will be replaced by John Chen to launch another try at the smartphone business which has been abysmal for the company in recent times. Blackberry has also cancelled the plans to take it private by Fairfax Financial Holdings.

At last, Blackberry finds a buyer



Struggling smartphone maker Blackberry has agreed a deal with Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited which will see the Canadian company pulled off the stock market and taken private. The deal to buy blackberry is worth about $4.7 billion which is the calculated worth of the company at a perilous moment for the company.

Blackberry suspends download of BBM for iPhone and Android



The only positive that was expected to come out of last week for Blackberry was the rollout of Blackberry Messenger to iPhones and Android powered devices. Blackberry had earlier announced a loss of about $1bn in the second quarter and its intention to retrieve 4,500 of their duties in the company.

According to reports from Reuters, Blackberry is looking to take the company private to give it a better chance of surviving in the increasingly hard smartphone market.


Reuters report that Chief Executive Thorsten Heins and the company’s board is increasingly coming around to the idea that taking Blackberry private will give it room to improve and solve its problems.

Earlier in the year, Research in Motion (RIM) Company Blackberry announced that its popular messenger application, BBM, is coming to iPhones and Android powered mobile phones. It seems the wait may soon be over as it could be available by late September.
