Blackberry promised
in May that it will release its popular messenger app BBM to other platforms
like Android and iOS in the summer.
Blackberry
has previously been exclusive to Blackberry smartphones but it decided there
was to be a change. While BBM has been announced for Samsung (an Android
smartphone maker) smartphones, we have not heard anything about the app on the
iOS platform.
That was
until a Blackberry Senior Strategic Account Manager, Alex Kinsella
revealed on twitter yesterday that the BBM for iPhone has been submitted to the
Apple app store for review since about two weeks ago.
“Just in case
we forgot to mention, BBM for iPhone was submitted for review 2 wks ago.
#waiting #BBM4ALL” he said on Twitter.

It is Apple’s
custom to approve 99% of apps submitted to its app store within five working
days and the delay in the approval of BBM has arouse suspicions that Apple
could be delaying it to unveil it along with the iOS 7.
Apple is to
hold its event next week Tuesday where it will likely unveil two smartphones;
the premium iPhone 5S and the low-budget iPhone 5C. Maybe we could expect BBM
too then.
It must be
noted that Blackberry has only announced the BBM for two platforms, Android and
iOS. No plan has been revealed for Windows Phone as at this point in time.
