Google has announced
on the official Chrome blog that Chrome apps will now be able to run on Android
and iOS devices due to a toolchain which is based on Apache Cordova.
Software
engineer Andrew Grieve announced on Tuesday that Chrome apps which are built on
HTML, CSS and JavaScript will now work on Android and iOS devices. Chrome apps
are now extending from desktop to mobile like many other things these days.

“Today we’re
expanding their reach to mobile platforms with an early developer preview of a
toolchain based on Apache Cordova, an open-source mobile development framework
for building native mobile apps using HTML, CSS and JavaScript.” the blog post
revealed.
The toolchain
being released by Google which is based on Apache Cordova will wrap Chrome apps
in such a way that it will make it a native app to Android and iOS. Developers
can also submit these apps to the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
Google had
introduced a new breed of Chrome apps last September that was able to work
offline by default and act like native applications on the host operating
system. The Chrome apps are available on Windows, Mac and Chrome OS and now
Android and iOS.
