Adobe has
revealed the addition of three features to the Photoshop CC, one of which is
support for editing and printing of 3D models. Initially, Photoshop supported
3D but the features were limited for users.
Now, users
can create a 3D model on Photoshop. Users can also edit the created designs or
even designs downloaded from the net. There is now support for 3D printers like
Makerbot which allows you to print your design.

“3D printing
has been around for a few decades, but most of the money spent on parts is in
manufacturing and dental verticals,” Andy Lauta, Product Manager at Photoshop
revealed during a press call.
“As more
consumers start to participate in 3D printing capabilities and those buying 3D printers
install them in their homes, the 3D market [will grow]. The problem today –
prior to the announcement – is that there is a gap between the models out there
and what printers need to do to produce high quality results.” Andy said.
Lauta also
stressed that Photoshop is only trying to improve its place as a creative tool.
“We aren’t envisioning Photoshop to compete with other models, but – similar
role to what the platform does in the creative workplace – it will be a
finishing tool to create and edit,” Lauta said.
Adobe has
also revealed that Photoshop automatically generate temporary supports beneath
and around a model to make sure that it doesn’t collapse during printing.
Other updates
to the Photoshop CC (Creative Cloud) are the Perspective warp which allow
warping an object to fit perfectly into the design and linked smart objects
which update a change in other designs which it was featured.
The update is
now available as a free update to Adobe Creative Cloud members, Creative Cloud
app members and CS3 members.
