Californian company Apple Inc. has announced its fourth quarter earnings. It sold more smartphones and tablets compared to the same quarter last year but made less profit.


The Wall Street Journal has revealed that a White House official revealed to it that the U.S. President Barack Obama didn’t have the information that German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s cellphone was being tapped.

Samsung release financial results for Q3

Apple unveils the fifth generation iPad and the iPad Mini 2



At an event at the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco, Apple unveiled the fifth generation iPad which is dubbed iPad Air, the iPad Mini 2, and Mac Pro. To is set to increase massively, the number of tablets Apple has sold which already is 170 million according to Apple.




Nokia has launched three devices at the Nokia World event in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Nokia Lumia 1520 is a 6-inch screen tablets which has seen many rumours even before the launch. Lumia 1320 is the same screen size with the 1520 but is a cheaper option with lower specs. Lumia 2520 is the first ever full tablet from Nokia and it possesses a 10.1-inch screen.

Apple overtakes Samsung in the U.S.



Due to the launch of the premium iPhone 5S and the budget iPhone 5C, Apple has regained the top spot in the smartphone market in the U.S. for the month of September according to reports from Counterpoint Research.


Blackberry has revealed that the download of its popular Blackberry Messenger which was formerly exclusive to Blackberry smartphones will be available to android smartphones and iPhones in hours.

Lenovo announces A10, its first Android PC



The biggest PC maker is trying to test the waters with its new multi-mode laptop which will run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Although Lenovo makes tablets and smartphones, this is the first PC from the Chinese company that runs on the Android operating system (OS).

Google stock price tops $1000



After announcements of Google’s financial report for the third quarter of this year, its share price gained more than 10 percent to break the $1,000 barrier for the first time since the tech giant went public in 2004.

When Apple debuted the fingerprint scanner on the latest iPhone 5S, Apple and Samsung fans, with different motives, wondered if Samsung was going to copy this (and probably improve it) or how was it going to top the new technology? Windows 8.1 is now available to users



Microsoft has announced on the windows blog today that Windows 8.1, an upgrade of Windows 8 is now available to users of Windows PCs and tablets. Present users of Windows 8 can upgrade to 8.1 free of charge starting from today.


Reports from Twitter’s S-1 for the third quarter has revealed that the social network, Twitter, will list its shares on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) during its initial public offering (IPO) which is expected to commence on the 15th of November if reports from insiders are to be believed.

These are the words on the invitation to the next Apple event which has all but confirmed the October 22 date that was earlier rumoured by tech blog All Things D. It is expected that iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 will be unveiled at the event.


The Director General of the Bureau of Public Enterprise (BPE), Mr. Benjamin Dikki revealed to the House of Representatives committee on Privatisation and Commercialisation that the full payments of entitlements has begun for the Power Holdings Company of Nigeria (PHCN) workers.


When Tecno initially came into Nigeria, it was responsible for the production of cheap mobile phones you’d call substandard at best (they’re popularly called China phones). In a good move though, Tecno has since restrategized and has become an android vendor which has given a cheap alternative to the expensive high end smartphones.

Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC has announced the phablet version of its flagship HTC One a day earlier than planned due to leaks of specification in the media. The new device has a 5.9-inch screen which is bigger than the flagship’s 4.7-inch and it also comes with a unique feature which is the fingerprint scanner.

Microsoft investors want Bill Gates to step down



According to Reuters, three of the top 20 shareholders in the giant software company wants co-founder Bill Gates – who co-founded the company with Paul Allen about 38 years ago – to resign as the Chairman of the board.
