Lenovo announces A10, its first Android PC

The biggest PC maker is trying to test the waters with its new multi-mode laptop which will run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Although Lenovo makes tablets and smartphones, this is the first PC from the Chinese company that runs on the Android operating system (OS).

Lenovo A10 comes with a 10.1-inch HD display with a resolution of 1366 × 768. It is powered by an RK3188, quad-core Cortex-A9 processor running at a maximum frequency of 1.6GHz and Lenovo claims this is the highest frequency for all quad-core ARM-based CPUs currently available. It comes with 2GB RAM and up to 32GB of storage.

Lenovo A10 is a dual mode device which can be used in both the laptop mode and stand mode. The laptop mode allows you to use the device like a laptop. Lenovo has customized the user interface to provide an app launcher, task bar and status bar for a better user experience.
The screen can be flipped around 300 degrees which will launch the stand mode where you can use your device like a tablet with full touch capacities. The interface will also change to that of a standard android interface for tablets.
The tablet is thin measuring 17.3mm at its thickest point and weighs less than 1kg. It has stereo speakers and an integrated .3 megapixel webcam. The battery is very strong for a PC as Lenovo claims it will last 9 hours of continuous video playback.
Tech site The Verge has reported that Lenovo confirmed to it that the device will only be available in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific but not yet in America. It also indicated that it could cost about $250 but the time of availability in the market is yet unknown.
