Staff dies a mysterious death on phcn line.

Like people always say, fire is a good servant but a bad master. In the same way, electricity is a good servant and in fact a servant needed in our daily activities. However making a mistake with electricity could lead to a situation where the person affected would not be able to witness the resultant stories.

On Saturday, the 27th of October, 2012, during a fault rectification on a 132kv line that links Osogbo to Akure, a staff of Power Holding Company of Nigeria(PHCN), Osogbo Works Centre named Babawale Adeyemi fell off a 132kv pylon in the switch yard due to induction around the line.

The major suprise is that according to a reliable source, the line was earthed properly before he went on the line. In fact if allowed, it could be said the line was 'over earthed'. The mystery is how there could still be induction on a line that has been effectively earthed. Although an explanation was given later about a tree that fell on the line on its path to Akure which caused an earth fault, there is still an anomaly in the story.

A line before being operated on will have been isolated from both sides connected to the line. Even a tree falling on an isolated and earthed line will not generate electricity. The simple fact is that the story does not add up.

There are many questions begging for answers. In this part of the world, people believe in works of spiritual powers. Some are exploring this option by concluding it was a spiritual attack. He was forty-six at the time of his death. He is survived by wife, children, brothers, and sisters. He is to be buried on Thursday, 1st of November.

May his soul rest in perfect peace. There was a recent occurrence which happened when a phcn staff was electrocuted on a 33kv line in Ekiti. It can be concluded that these events are screaming safety! safety!! safety!!!
