And the winner of Ondo State gubernatorial elections is...

Dr. Rahman Olusegun Mimiko has been declared the winner of the 20th of October,2012 gubernatorial elections in Ondo State. INEC through the returning officer Prof. Adebiyi Daramola declared Mimiko winner at 1:25pm at INEC's collation centre in the Ondo State capital, Akure. Mimiko led the nearest candidate to him with 104,238 votes.

Calling that a landslide victory won't be bad choice of words. The breakdown is as follows:

1. LP 260,199;
2. PDP 155,961;
3. ACN 143,512.

President Jonathan has since congratulated Dr. Mimiko through the special adviser to the president on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati.

He said; "as Governor Mimiko looks forward to the commencement of his second term in office, the President urges him to be prepared to work even harder to justify the fresh mandate given to him by the people of Ondo State who voted for his re-election on Saturday."



He added "President Jonathan assures Dr. Mimiko that the Federal Government will continue to engage constructively and positively with the Ondo State Government in collaborative efforts to achieve faster socio-economic development and better living conditions for people in the state and all other parts of Nigeria".

The speaker of the National House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, likewise has also congratulated Dr. Mimiko on his victory in the polls through a statement issued by his special adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Malam Imam Imam. He moved that Mimiko's victory was a manifestation of the people's trust in his leadership abilities.

He also pledged the cooperation of the House of Representatives to the new Governor, saying the lawmakers will work with all persons and interest groups to deepen democracy of the country. There was no report of any major disruption during the elections.

Congratulations to Dr. Mimiko, congratulations to the Labour Party(LP), congratulations to the people of Ondo State for choosing their preferred candidate.
