Facebook android phone?

Facebook has sent its invitation out (again) to the press to “come see our new home on android” next Thursday, April 4th at its Menlo Park headquarters.

Since the home was not specified in the Facebook invitation, several rumours have been flying around about what Facebook is trying to build with the android OS (Operating System).
There has been collaboration between Facebook and phone-making company HTC before and this has sparked rumours that Facebook is trying to build a special type of OS on an HTC phone.

There are other speculations from the Wall Street Journal that the home could be a special type of home page on your phone, which will notify you of whatever is happening on Facebook right on the home screen of your phone.

This is thought to be in an effort to increase the total amount of time use the most popular social platform. Yeah, Facebook wants to increase the already high level of addiction to its site.

The other prediction is that Facebook will unveil a mobile phone that runs on android OS. Although this could be the least likely out of the possible scenarios because Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg replied in the negative side to rumours of Facebook trying to build a phone in September last year.

He said,
“It wouldn’t make much sense; it has always been a wrong strategy.

“Let’s say we build a phone, we’re not but if we did, we could maybe get 10 to 20 million people to use it… It doesn’t move the needle for us.

“The strategy we have is different from every other tech company [like Apple] that’s building their own hardware system – we’re going in the opposite direction.”

He also indicated that Facebook wanted to “build a system, which is as deeply as possible integrated into every major device people want to use.”

I guess time will soon tell what Facebook has up its sleeves. I just hope the home it’s building will be a good one, and warm too.

P. S: A happy Easter celebrations to everyone. May your desires come to pass during this season. Amen.
