The news of
Microsoft acquiring Nokia’s mobile unit is not yet out of the public space but
now we have another that may signal the first mobile device to be unveiled
after Microsoft’s deal.
There have
been rumours of a Nokia phablet codenamed The Bandit and now it is clear that
it is the Nokia Lumia 1520 phablet. The Verge got some pictures of the Windows
Phone 8 device and also some features expected to accompany it.

Of course,
the Nokia Lumia 1520 will be the first phablet to use the Windows Phone OS. The
device is to have a 6-inch full HD screen, 0.3 inches bigger than the recently
released Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
The Bandit
will also come equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and a 1080p
display. It will also have 2GB RAM, an internal memory of 32GB coupled with a
microSD slot to further extend it.
The camera
capabilities will not be up to that of Nokia Lumia 1020 if the reports are
correct. It is expected that it will spot a 16-megapixels rear camera. The rear
camera will also be able to simultaneously capture images in both 16and 5
megapixels.
It is
expected that the Nokia Lumia 1520 will be unveiled at Nokia’s event that will
hold on the 26th of this month, at New York. Nokia has not confirmed it though
that it will launch the device on the said date.
Nokia’s mobile unit was recently acquired by Microsoft for $7.2 billion. This will also
see Nokia’s CEO Stephen Elop move to Microsoft as the vice president of devices
unit and some other 32,000 Nokia employees that will become Microsoft’s.
