The latest in the Samsung Galaxy S series, Samsung Galaxy S4
has sold over 10 million units globally in less than a month after its launch
claims Samsung.
Samsung also added that it will introduce new colours of the
Samsung Galaxy S4 which is currently available in black and white. The blue and
red models will be released this summer while the purple and brown will be
released in the fall.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 was launched April 27 and it has
reached a milestone that took the Samsung Galaxy SIII 50 days to achieve. In comparison
to other previous Galaxy S phones, the Galaxy SII took five month to reach the
10 million mark while the Samsung Galaxy S took seven month to achieve the
feat.
While speaking, CEO and President of the IT and Mobile
Communications at Samsung, Mr. J. K. Shin said: “On behalf of Samsung, I would
like to thank the millions of customers around the world who have chosen the
Samsung Galaxy S4.”
The Android device is now available in 110 countries. According
to Bloomberg, Samsung had 31.7% of the global smartphone market in the first
quarter, ahead of Apple’s 17.3% and LG’s distant 4.7%.
In related news, Apple has asked a federal judge in Silicon
valley to add Samsung Galaxy S4 to the list of devices targeted in a patent
lawsuit.
Apple claims that the Samsung smartphone infringed on the
patent of its Siri voice-commanded personal assistant in iPhones. Apple has
been involved with Samsung – who is now the top smartphone maker in the world –
on cases of patent infringements.
Samsung was asked to pay $1bn to Apple last year which was
later reduced to $550 million over claim of miscalculation by a judge.
