According to
reports from Korea Times, Samsung will be looking to appeal the latest ruling by
the US International Trade Commission banning its products provided U. S.
President, Barack Obama does not veto the ruling.
Samsung officials
think that it is unlikely that Obama will veto the ruling the way he did
concerning the ban on Apple products. Obama’s administration has a maximum of
60 days to veto the ruling or it goes into effect.
In the
effect that there is no veto from Obama, the ruling will go into effect by
October and Samsung is looking to appeal by then at the earliest.
“We will
appeal if President Obama accepts the Aug. 9 ITC decision,” a company official
told Korea Times on Sunday. The official claims that top Samsung officials have
held a meeting to discuss countermeasures.
“We will
take all legal measures to defend and protect our intellectual property rights,”
they said in a statement.
“If
President Obama fails to veto the latest ruling, that decision will hurt market
competition,” said an executive, who declined to be mentioned because nothing
is official at this moment.
ITC (InternationalTrade Commission) had on Friday (9th of August) banned some Samsung products
for infringing on two Apple patents.
