On March 28 at a press conference hosted by the New York
International Auto and Bridgestone Corporation, another car emerged as the
current holder of the car of the year trophy.
The Volkswagen Up! has won previously in 2012, Volkswagen Polo in 2010, and Volkswagen Golf VI in 2009.
The Volkswagen golf was chosen from an initial entry list of 42 new vehicles from all over the world, then a shortlist of 10, then 4 finalists: the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, the Porsche Boxster/Cayman, the combined entry Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ/Toyota 86/GT 86, and the Volkswagen Golf.
The Porsche Boxster/Cayman was chosen from an initial entry of 20 new cars from all over the world, then a short list of 10, then 3 finalists: the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, the Porsche Boxster/Cayman and the combined entry Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ/Toyota 86/GT 86.
Three of the previous four editions before the latest
edition have been won by Volkswagen. This year has made it four in five years
for Volkswagen as Mark VII Volkswagen Golf car has won the award of the car of
the year 2013.
The Volkswagen Up! has won previously in 2012, Volkswagen Polo in 2010, and Volkswagen Golf VI in 2009.

In other categories, the Porsche Boxster/Cayman won the
award of the world performance car of the year. This is the second consecutive
year that Porsche has won the award after Porsche 911 won the award in 2012.

In the third category, the award of the world car design of
the year went to 2014 Jaguar F-Type car. The car won out of 3 finalists: the
Jaguar F-Type, the Mazda6, and the Aston Martin Vanquish.
In the last category, Tesla Model S was declared the 2013
world green car. It beat two other finalists to win the award: the Renault Zoe
and the Volvo V60 Plug in Hybrid. It must also be noted that the Tesla Model S
is an electric car.
