Sources claim that Microsoft has asked its parts supplier in Asia to send it touch-based components that could be used to make a smartwatch. The report citing executives at Microsoft supply partners indicate that the watch may have a screen size of 1.5 inches.

The component company executive noted that he personally met with Microsoft’s research and development team in Redmond, Washington, to discuss the product.

The Sony, Motorola, and Pebble smartwatches are already in existence in the smartwatch market but none has been a big hit on the tech market.

There are rumours about other companies who have been working on smartwatches like Apple, Samsung, LG, etc. although none of them has come out to disclose plans about the project.

Microsoft has not given its comment regarding the report.
