What do you know about the new and different windows 8?

Microsoft made an advancement from windows vista & 7 to windows 8 with the release of the operating system into the market on 26th of October, 2012.

Not many people have been using it especially in my immediate environment. But whether you are already using it or you are planning to upgrade to windows 8, here are things you need to know about the new and completely different operating system:

There are actually two types of windows 8 which are windows 8 and windows RT. Windows eight was built as the full version for the classic desktop environment while windows RT was built for mobile devices (it also has the windows store through which applications can be downloaded).

Microsoft windows 8 can be enjoyed best on a touchscreen. That does not mean it cannot be used on other screens. It also support a great battery life (about 8 hours on a desktop based OS and up to 20 hours in the touch screen devices)

Instead of the start button, you have the metro which consist of a mosaic of live tiles.

Windows 8 has a better multitasking feature than its predecessor windows 7.

Don’t worry too much, you can still use your old programs on the new windows OS.

Windows 8 has come with a upgraded version of internet explorer which is the version 10.

The new windows 8 does not have DVD or Blu-ray playback integrated into it, but you can still use your normal applications like VLC player to play DVD. You can’t use VLC player on windows RT though.

There are many other changes that are present but not mentioned here but these are just the popular ones. You can add any change you notice in the comments.
