HTC One Max with Fingerprint scanner announced

Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC has announced the phablet version of its flagship HTC One a day earlier than planned due to leaks of specification in the media. The new device has a 5.9-inch screen which is bigger than the flagship’s 4.7-inch and it also comes with a unique feature which is the fingerprint scanner.

HTC One Max runs on the latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and has the HTC Sense 5.5 interface. It comes with a 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor and 2GB of RAM. It has the 16/32GB version and also has a slot for MicroSD card of up to 64GB, a feature that was absent in the flagship HTC One. Google Drive is also offering 50GB of online storage space for HTC One Max users.

This is the first Android smartphone that will spot a fingerprint scanner after it became a unique feature in the Apple iPhone 5S that was unveiled last month. However, HTC One Max’s fingerprint is not located on the front like that of iPhone 5S. Rather, it is located at the back below the camera.
The fingerprint can be used to unlock the device and also to launch up to 3 applications if you assign different fingers to different apps. “The fingerprint scanner allows users to lock or unlock the screen and quickly launch up to three favourite applications by assigning an individual finger to each,” HTC said in a statement.
It has a 1080p display, 1080 × 1920 resolution and can record full 1080p videos. It has a 4MP ‘Ultrapixel’ camera at its rear while it has a 2.1 mega-pixel camera in front of it. The camera is equipped with the Dual Capture feature which allows the front and rear camera to be used at the same time.
It comes with a 3300mAh battery to power it and also a flip case which will provide an additional 1150mAh to help the device function for a longer period.
HTC One Max will be available in the glacial silver colour and will be available to consumers by the end of October. The price of the device is unknown at the moment.

    1. It was only a matter of time before the fingerprint sensor is featured on an android device. I won't be surprised if a 64-bit processor is featured in an android device soon.
