After a week
in which Microsoft announce a trade-in programme that will see consumers get up
to $200 when they trade their iPhones or iPads for a Windows phone or a Surface
tablet, it has extended the ‘opportunity’ to other devices on other platforms.
Users can now
trade in phones like Samsung, Blackberry and many other smartphones which will
qualify them to receive a gift card of up to $350.
Microsoft has
made the process easy for users as the form can be completed online. There is a
list of up to 50 devices on its site which you can trade in for your windows
device.
You’ll be
able to choose the device you want to trade in and also state the condition of
the device. You’ll in turn be told the amount of gift card you’ll receive.
The device
will be sent by the user to Clover Wireless which has collaborated with
Microsoft on this programme. Your claims on the device will be verified. Clover
claims it will refurbish the devices and resell or donate to charity. It could
also recycle the devices.
You’ll in turn
buy a Windows phone or Surface tablet in less than 30 days after your claim has
been verified by Clover Wireless and send a prove of ownership to the company.
Within 60
days of the receipt of the proof of ownership, Clover will send the user
rebates in form of a prepaid Visa card.
Microsoft has
not indicated the end date for this programme neither has it indicated its
exclusivity to the United States. But carriers from other countries have not
been present on its site so we can as well assume it is only for U. S. at the
moment.
