Nokia has
announced the introduction of a Series40 phone with premium features, the Nokia
515. With the world going crazy for smartphones, Nokia has decided to test the
mobile phone market with a feature phone.
The main body
of the Nokia 515 is constructed from anodized, sandblasted aluminium. It has a
gently curved display with Gorilla Glass 2 to protect the screen. The phone is
lightweight with a weight of 101.1g and a dimension of 114 ×
48 × 11mm.

It comes with
a 2.4-inch display, an internal memory of 256MB which is extendable to 32GB
through a MicroSD slot. It is however impressive that it comes with a support
for 3.5G HSDPA – GSM 850/900/1800/1900 WCDMA 900/2100 network.
It is packed
with a microUSB port, Bluetooth 3.0, 3.5mm AV connector and Micro SIM. Nokia
515 comes with 5 megapixels rear camera with a LED flash for taking pictures
indoors or in dark places. The camera is packed with many features which allow
you to take pictures easily and share them the same way.
Perhaps one
of the best features of the Nokia featurephone is its battery life. The battery
can support the phone for up to 38 days in the standby mode and up to 10.4 hrs
talk time (up to 5.3 hrs for 3G). It will have both a single and double SIM version.
The Nokia 515
will start shipping in the third quarter of 2013 which indicates that it will
likely be available before the end of September. It is expected that it will be
available first in Russia, Germany, Switzerland and Poland and will likely cost
$150/€115 (about 23,000 naira).
The cost
though may discourage many people from getting it when they could get a cheap
smartphone for a similar price or even cheaper. Time will tell though if this
will be another hit by Nokia, it’s a long time since they’ve had a hit.
