Airtel Nigeria
has announced its partnership with Nokia that would see users of Nokia Asha phones
enjoy free data on WhatsApp and Facebook.
The offer is
valid on the new Nokia Asha 210 and Asha 501 and other Asha users on the telecommunications
network whether old or new customers for six months.
Airtel Chief
Sales Officer, Inusa Bello revealed this in a media launch in Lagos. He stated
that users are required to activate this offer by sending ‘WA’ to 948 in an SMS
for WhatsApp data while users will send FB to 688 to enjoy free Facebook
service.
“We are proud
to partner with Nokia in delivering values to Nigerians. The WhatsApp and
Facebook offer on these two Nokia Smartphones provides another opportunity for
Nigerians to enjoy Airtel’s robust internet services that cover the 36 states
of the federation and Abuja.” he said.
Chris Brown,
General Manager, Nokia West Africa revealed that this partnership is part of a
strategy to get the Asha smartphones to more Nigerians and especially to those
looking for a data enabled mobile phone.
“Through this
partnership we are creating an opportunity for our customers to enjoy seamless
social networking with friends, family and colleagues through Facebook, as well
as being able to chat through WhatsApp,” he said.
The Airtel
