The rumour
of Apple producing a budget phone is gaining more momentum as pictures of
packaging of the rumoured budget “iPhone 5C” has appeared on a Chinese website
Weiphone. It has been speculated that the C could mean colour. It is expected
that the budget iPhone will have many light colours unlike the conventional
black and white colours. Though my meaning of C will be Cheap.
The
pictures were first noticed by French website Nowhereelse.fr and it is
predicted that the iPhone 5C according to the name on the packaging will be
released later this year alongside another new version of iPhone which is
expected to be iPhone 5S.
It is
expected that iPhone 5C will be a modified version of iPhone 5 and will have a
plastic packaging as part of the means to reduce its price in the market. The
budget iPhone as previously reported will cost less than $200 when it hits the
market.
It is not
yet confirmed if the budget phone will actually come in that casing but this
picture was uploaded by a user of the Chinese site. It is also a known fact
that most of iPhone’s parts are supplied from Asia so it’s a rumour that could
be true.
Apple
recently announced an increase in the sale of iPhones in the second quarter of
the year 2013 and decrease in the sale of the iPad. The sales of the iPhone had
an incredible 400% increase in India, up 140% in Phillipines, and 60% in Turkey
but a decrease of 4% in China. Apple earned $27 billion in revenue in the
second quarter.
“I continue
to believe that in the arc of time China is a huge opportunity for Apple, and I
don’t get discouraged over a 90-day kind of cycle that can have economic
factors and other things in it,” Tim Cook, Apple CEO said.
