Facebook
will start offering advanced search function to users in the US and users who
use American English version of the site today 8th July. This was revealed by a
Facebook representative to tech site CNET. This feature was announced earlier
this by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
This will
be a new way of finding people, places, photos, and interests that are relevant
to about 1 billion users of the number one social site. The advanced site will
use filters like ‘place type’, ‘liked by’, and ‘visited by friends’.
The new
graph search will replace the traditional search bar with a bigger search bar
at the top of each page. The graph search will use different keywords to
provide results to users. This could for instance allow you to search something
like “friends who like 2face” or “people who went to OAU and lives in Abuja”.
However, it
has been noted that this feature will not be available on mobile version of the
site for now. It is also expected that the search results will be adapted to
the privacy settings of various users. It is expected that hundred million
users will be able to use the search bar by the end of this week while other
users in the US will be allowed access in the coming weeks.
