The latest in the Samsung Galaxy S series, Samsung Galaxy S4 has sold over 10 million units globally in less than a month after its launch claims Samsung.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 was launched April 27 and it has reached a milestone that took the Samsung Galaxy SIII 50 days to achieve. In comparison to other previous Galaxy S phones, the Galaxy SII took five month to reach the 10 million mark while the Samsung Galaxy S took seven month to achieve the feat.

While speaking, CEO and President of the IT and Mobile Communications at Samsung, Mr. J. K. Shin said: “On behalf of Samsung, I would like to thank the millions of customers around the world who have chosen the Samsung Galaxy S4.”

Samsung also added that it will introduce new colours of the Samsung Galaxy S4 which is currently available in black and white. The blue and red models will be released this summer while the purple and brown will be released in the fall.

The Android device is now available in 110 countries. According to Bloomberg, Samsung had 31.7% of the global smartphone market in the first quarter, ahead of Apple’s 17.3% and LG’s distant 4.7%.

In related news, Apple has asked a federal judge in Silicon valley to add Samsung Galaxy S4 to the list of devices targeted in a patent lawsuit.

Apple claims that the Samsung smartphone infringed on the patent of its Siri voice-commanded personal assistant in iPhones. Apple has been involved with Samsung – who is now the top smartphone maker in the world – on cases of patent infringements.

Samsung was asked to pay $1bn to Apple last year which was later reduced to $550 million over claim of miscalculation by a judge.
