Samsung
Mobile has announced in a press event in Seoul, Korea that it will be
introducing a smartphone with a curved plastic LED (Light Emitting Diode)
screen to the South Korean market. The event was majorly to show recently
released Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear.
“We plan to
introduce a smartphone with a curved display in South Korea in October,” D.J.
Lee, Samsung’s mobile business head of strategic marketing revealed.

Samsung has
already produced television sets with curved screen and there have been rumours
the technology will soon debut on a smartphone of the South Korean tech giant.
No it is only a matter of time before we start seeing smartphone with curved
and flexible screens.
Samsung
didn’t reveal any other details of the coming smartphones. It was initially
thought that the recently released galaxy gear smartwatch was going to spot a
curved screen but it came with a 1.63-inch flat screen.
Curved
displays are difficult to produce in mass but the advantages to expect from
curved display is a thinner display and a more durable device.
