Apple Inc.
has apparently recruited top Nike design director Ben Shaffer to fuel more
rumours about Apple’s intent in wearable devices.
Formerly at
Nike, Ben Shaffer was Studio Director of Nike’s popular research and
development lab, Innovation Kitchen. The innovation kitchen was responsible for
popular products like the fitness tracking Nike Fuel Band device and the very
light Flyknit shoe.

This saw Nike
declared as the most innovative company in 2013 by Fast Company. Nike has
confirmed the news to 9to5Mac that Ben Shaffer is no longer with the company.
Apple CEO Tim
Cook who is a board member of Nike is a fan of the Nike Fuel Band. He has
commended the functions of the device and has been spotted wearing the device
on more than one occasion.
The rumours
have been flying around about Apple trying to make a smartwatch which is dubbed
the iWatch. This new development could mean some fitness tracking functions
could be integrated into the device.
It is
expected that Apple smartwatch, iWatch, could debut next year. Apple recently
released two smartphones iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C which run on the new iOS 7 and
has enjoyed massive number of sales.
