“Our definition of innovation today is technology that truly resonates with consumers,” LG mobile communications chief Jong-seok Park said. He also referred to the G2 as the most ambitious mobile phone ever produced by the South Korean company.

The G2 has come with various features and specifications. It leads the pack with a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB RAM. It has a dimension of 138.5 × 70.9 × 8.9mm with a screen resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels (423 pixels per inch (ppi)) and an IPS screen.

It is equipped with a 3000mAh battery to cope with all its power needs. It has two versions of 16GB and 32GB internal storage. The media is taken care of with a 13MP rear camera and a 2.1MP front camera. Coupled with these is a video capture of 1080p.

It comes with Bluetooth v4.0, 802.11 a/ac/b/g/n, dual-band Wi-Fi support. It also comes with the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

Perhaps the most unique feature of the new LG G2 is that the volume button and the power button are located at the back of the phone instead of the side and front. This was done because LG thinks it will be easier to control the volume of the phone while picking a call with less risk of the phone dropping to the ground.

The G2 also come with the “Answer Me” and “KnockOn” features. The Answer Me allows you to answer a call as soon as you pick it up and put it to your ear. The KnockOn effect allow you to turn the screen on or off by tapping it twice.

It comes with “Guest Mode” which allows you to personalize your phone so that you can unlock or lock it with a pattern. This will protect you against viewing or deleting important infos especially by children. The “Plug & Pop” mode display every app and functions supported by the headset when you plug an headset to it.

No specific date has been given about when it will be officially on the market but it is expected to be in the market by November of this year. LG Electronics is the second largest vendor on the Android platform with a share of 6.5% according to the latest data by the International Data Corporation (IDC).
