Microsoft to release new generation Xbox on Tuesday

It is believed that Microsoft is going to announce the launch of next generation Xbox on Tuesday. There have been rumours flying around about the name the new Xbox is going to take.

There have been speculations in some quarters that the new Xbox will be called Durango; some believe it will be named Xbox Infinity while others think it’ll be Xbox 720.
The last launch of the Xbox console was the Xbox 360 which was launched about eight years ago. The Xbox 360 was a big success with sales of more than 77 million units worldwide.

The new console is expected to have built in Wi-Fi, USB 3.0 ports, a BlueRay drive, large internal hard disk, digital audio and HDMI outputs. It is reported that a second generation Kinect motion sensor will be included in every console. The Kinect motion sensor is a camera-based device by Microsoft that detects motion of gamers to play games.

It is also believed that the next generation Xbox will require permanent internet connection to work. This is to prevent piracy according to reports. Although if this is anywhere close to the truth, countries where internet connections have been found wanting may have a problem with this.

Due to the tight leash Microsoft kept on the design of the new generation Xbox, no one except the developers knows how it will look like. There are many unknown details about the new Xbox, I guess we’ll all have to wait till Tuesday to see the wonder (hopefully) Microsoft will unveil.

Xbox’s main rival Sony’s PlayStation announced the PlayStation 4 about three months ago.
