According to reports from Reuters, Apple is ready to release
big screen phones next year in order to keep up with the competition from its
major rival whom we all know, Samsung.
Apple has been under increasing pressure to release more
than a single phone per year as critics claim Apple is losing its creativity in
the absence of its late co-founder Steve Jobs.
Reuters claim ‘four people in the know’ has revealed that
Apple could launch two iPhone phablets (bigger than traditional smartphones but
not as big as tablets) with 4.7-inch and 5.7-inch screens due to specifications
from Apple’s suppliers in Asia.
It is expected that the 4.7-inch model would cost about $99
(15,500 naira). This according to analysts is in a bid for Apple to have a
chance in smartphones biggest market China and also a large market in India.
The information source however claimed that these designs do
not mean Apple will surely produce these devices: “They constantly change
products specifications almost to the final moment, so you’re not really sure
whether this is the final prototype.”
Presently, the largest screen by an iPhone is the 4-inch screen
on the iPhone 5 after Apple deviated from its standard 3.5-inch screens which
Steve Jobs claimed is “the perfect size for consumers”.
Apple has not commented on the rumours.
