At a meeting with Nigerian Canadian association, Vice
President Namadi Sambo revealed that the Federal Government has approved the
sum of $3.7 billion (about 581 billion naira) to improve power transmission in a bid to
increase the total grid generation to 20,000MW.
A statement by the spokesman to the Vice President, Alhaji Umar Sani, noted that the President Jonathan administration was committed to the provision of the necessary infrastructure and that efforts are being exerted in the areas of power supply, transportation, aviation, ICT, agriculture, provision of affordable healthcare services, addressing the educational advancement issues and the provision of good governance.
At the interactive section, the Vice President took time to explain the happenings in Nigeria in terms of Infrastructural as well as social development.
He also appreciated the contributions of Nigerians living abroad to the country’s development, saying that it was in recognition of their contributions that a diaspora bond of 1 billion naira was set up.
He urged Nigerians living in Canada to key into the laudable initiative, and also called on citizens living overseas to come home and contribute to the country’s development.
I hope he’s not inviting them home to be harassed by terrorists and kidnappers, he better have something good in store.
We hope the $3.7 billion will go to the right place, we are not fans of redirection of funds. Thanks.
